Václav Havel Airport is Prague’s international commercial airport. It is located approximately 15 kilometers west of the city center and is owned by the Czech state.
The airport is named after Václav Havel, the first president of the Czech Republic. In 2019, it handled about 18 million passengers.
The airport has three runways, but one of them is closed and used as a parking area for aircraft.

Flights to Prague Václav Havel
Václav Havel Airport is the home airport and hub of Czech Airlines. A total of 20 airlines fly to 100 destinations worldwide. Most destinations are served by Condor, in addition to Czech Airlines.
- Airlines at the Airport: The airlines are distributed between the two terminals, the third is used for government flights. Terminal 1 handles all flights to or from non-Schengen countries, while Terminal 2 handles all flights to and from the Schengen area. Prague Airport is an important hub for Czech Airlines. In addition, Aeroflot, Smart Wings, ABS Jet, Air France, Alitalia, British Airways, Delta, Germanwings KLM, Lufthansa Swiss, and Turkish Airlines, as well as others, fly from Václav Havel.
- Air Connections: In addition to domestic connections to various cities in the Czech Republic, international flights within Europe and intercontinental routes in Africa, Asia, and North America are served from Václav Havel. However, the majority of passenger traffic is accounted for by intra-European connections.
Airport Transfers
- Car: Václav Havel Airport is located in the west of Prague. It can be reached by car via the D7 freeway, junction 30 and the D6 freeway, which is connected to the D7 by an interchange.
- Airport Bus: From Prague Central Station, the Airport Express bus runs every 30 minutes during the day. At night, the airport is also served by bus line 910, every 30 minutes.
- Private Transfers: Various companies offer airport transfers in a limousine, where the chauffeur picks up the guest at the gate. For more details, please refer to the relevant websites.
- Taxis: Taxi drivers in Prague have a very bad reputation, not entirely without reason. Many ask for an overpriced fare or drive a route that is far too long. Be sure to only get into a licensed vehicle with the “Taxi” sign clearly displayed on the roof. Get help ordering a taxi or use an online tool such as www.prague-airporttransfers.co.uk. The basic fee for taxis in Prague is 60 Czech crowns (about 2.40 euros), the price per kilometer is 36 Czech crowns (about 1.45 euros), and charges for waiting and congestion are 7 Czech crowns per minute (about 0.28 euros). A trip from the airport to the center of Prague costs about 700 Czech crowns (about 28 euros), depending on traffic.

Public Transport
- Suburban Train: There is currently no suburban train connection to the airport in Prague. From the Nádraží Veleslavín metro station on line A, bus line No. 119 runs to the airport approximately every 5 to 10 minutes during the day. From the Zličín metro station, terminus of line B, bus line No. 100 runs to Prague Airport. The journey time from the metro stations is approximately 30 minutes.

Uber at The Airport
The company UBER has its headquarters in San Francisco, USA. It is a US service company that arranges transportation services online in many cities around the world.
Once you have downloaded the app on your phone, you can use the UBER services. When you order an UBER, you will be told the price for the route you want. Payment is made by credit card, Eurocard, PayPal, or Google Play.
Airport Lounge
There are a total of 3 different lounges at Prague Václav Havel Airport, all of which offer hot and cold drinks and snacks. For all lounges, economy passengers can purchase access authorization directly at the entrance to the corresponding lounge for an additional charge.
- First Premier Lounge: This lounge is located in Terminal 2, after the security check and is intended for travelers in the Schengen area. It is open daily from 05:00 to 22:00.
- Raiffeisenbank Lounge: This lounge is located in Terminal 2 in front of the security check on the 2nd floor and is intended for travelers in the Schengen area. Access is via the stairwell with the red carpet.
- Mastercard Lounge: This lounge is located in Terminal 1, after the security check near Pier B on the 2nd floor and is intended for non-Schengen travelers. It is open daily from 05:00 to 22:00.

Shopping, Stores, and Duty-Free
The stores at Václav Havel Airport are usually open from Monday to Sunday, many of them from 06:00 to 22:00. There are about 40 stores, including perfumeries, jewelry stores, magazine stores, bookstores, and boutiques.
After passport control, the classic duty-free stores await the traveler. In about 70 stores offer their goods, from perfume to luxury and branded clothing, to alcoholic beverages and gift items.
The restaurants at the airport offer classic European, and in some cases traditional Czech dishes. Most of them are open between 07:00 and 21:30, the large self-service restaurant is even open around the clock.
Rental Cars
Many major car rental companies have a branch at Prague Václav Havel Airport, including Hertz, Avis, and Europcar. In addition, local car rental companies can also be found.
Of course, you can also rent a car online in advance, so the vehicle will be directly available upon your arrival.
Airport Parking Lot
- Parking Spaces: A total of 3,000 paid parking spaces in parking garages and open-air parking lots are available to arriving and departing passengers directly near the terminals, about two-thirds of which can also be rented on a long-term basis. The PA, PC, and PB parking areas are within walking distance of the terminals, PC is closer to Terminal 1 and PA is closer to Terminal 2. Short-term parking is available directly in front of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 and is free for 15 minutes. Next to it, there is the terminal driveway with an entry/exit zone.

Airport Hotels
These hotels are within easy walking distance of Václav Havel Airport in Prague and are a great choice for guests landing late or departing early.
- Courtyard by Marriot Prague Airport: The contemporary business hotel, Courtyard by Marriot Prague Airport, is located directly across from Terminal 1 and is accessible from Terminal 2 via a covered walkway. The modern hotel offers a fitness room, a fully equipped business center, a bistro, and a bar.
- Holiday Inn PRAGUE Airport: The modern 4-star Holiday Inn Prague Airport Hotel is located only 300 meters from Terminals 1 and 2 and can be called directly from the hotel telephones in the terminals. The hotel offers free shuttle transportation to and from the airport. The windows of the 70 contemporary-furnished, fully air-conditioned rooms cannot be opened. Despite the proximity to the airport, the accommodations are very quiet thanks to good soundproofing. The hotel’s restaurant serves Czech and international cuisine. When the weather is nice, you can dine in the summer garden.
- Hotel Ramada: The modern 4-star Hotel Ramada is located near Terminal 3 and can be called directly from a hotel telephone in Terminal 1. The distance to Terminal 1 and 2 is approximately 2 kilometers. The hotel offers a fully equipped business center, as well as conference rooms.
